Closed for Ascension Day

And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

– Act 1:7-11

Forty days after He rose from the dead, Jesus ascended into Heaven. His purpose of coming to earth as the Redeemer for mankind was now complete, and He returned to the Father with the promise that He would soon send the Holy Spirit to be our comforter and guide until His return.

AB Martin will be closed for Ascension Day, May 9, 2024.  We observe it as a Christian day of remembrance and reflection on what Christ has done for us through His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into Heaven to reign at the Father’s right hand, to intercede on behalf of His church, and to prepare a place for those who call upon His Name.

With His ascension is the promise of His coming again with glory and splendor as the King of King’s and Lord of Lord’s.

Springtime is a reminder of the new life that comes after the cold and dormancy of winter, and also of the new life that can only be ours through faith in Christ alone.
